Case Study: Finding Clarity in Career Direction — One Step at a Time
Radhika (name changed) came to me as a high-performing Senior Marketing Manager with 17 years in the corporate sector.
On paper, everything looked sorted — great track record, steady growth, and strong peer feedback. But inside, she was deeply unsettled.
“I’ve worked hard to get here, but I’m not sure this is what I want to keep doing. I feel stuck.”
She wasn’t burnt out—she was disconnected. Unsure whether to stay, pivot, or quit, she was caught in analysis paralysis, which is when she reached out for coaching.
How We Worked Together
Over six sessions, we followed a structured yet reflective coaching process:
Career Story Mapping — We explored her 17-year journey, identifying where she felt most alive and what drained her
Values & Energy Audit — She realised how little of what mattered to her (autonomy, learning, creative impact) existed in her current role.
Role Pattern Analysis — We uncovered how she had chosen roles more out of safety than aspiration.
Possibility Prototyping — We explored three directions: internal shift, industry change, and a consulting portfolio, and tested each with real-world conversations and experiments.
Where She Landed
Radhika didn’t rush. She made an informed, confident choice:
- She exited her company on her terms
- Took a short sabbatical to upskill
- Started a consulting portfolio aligned with her strengths and values
“I finally stopped asking what I should do, and started asking what I want to create,” she said.
“This coaching helped me unfreeze.”
My Reflection as a Coach
Sometimes the real shift is not in the job — it’s in the clarity and agency with which we make our decisions.
As a coach, my role was to help her listen to herself, reflect deeply, and move forward — not out of fear, but with purpose.
